Jack Laver is a London based painter and printmaker. In his use of ink, bleach and glue, Laver’s work plays with the shifting dynamic between instinctual, organic forms and the interruption of the predetermined. Translucent skin like sheets adorn the walls of his studio, all spawning swirls of black ink and rusty orange bleach; they could be decaying, they could be growing - they’re dirty but serene. Always paradoxical in it’s tension between the natural and the un-natural, Laver’s work transports you to an enveloping realm of bleak mysticism.
Laver works and lives in London. He previously studied a BA in Illustration and Visual Media, London College of Communication (UAL), 2017-2020; and a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, Kingston University (KUL), 2016-2017.
